Jackrabbit & Youth Olympics 2012

 olympics_ringsHave Fun!

Our snow and ski trail conditions are very good. We are in great shape for the event! Click here for photos from Sunday February 19 2012 Jackrabbit lessons.

The purpose of the Jackrabbit & Youth Olympics is to provide an enjoyable ski race environment aimed at children and youth with a maximum age limit of 14.

The goal is to provide the experience of a ski race including timing, placing, and awards in a less competitive atmosphere than what exists at a standard ski race.

Local clubs attend this event and we usually see about 100 skiers participating in the races. This makes this event the busiest day of the whole ski season in Fort Saskatchewan.

The day includes a ski race, a lunch, followed by fun games.

The games include various ski-themed activities that the kids play on their skis. Each child has a passport which is marked as they complete each game. A small prize is awarded once the passport is filled out completely.

Agrium Grant 2011

skandicFSNSC is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $14,000 grant from Agrium.

In the fall of 2012, the Fort Saskatchewan Nordic Ski Club is moving it's home base to West River's Edge Park in the west end of the City of Fort Saskatchewan.

The grant is intended to celebrate the corporation's long, successful history hosting the FSNSC at the River Valley Ski Center located on it's property, and to reaffirm Agrium's desire to continue it's support of FSNSC efforts to foster healthy lifestyles, and a love of the outdoors.

The club has used the grant for the purchase of a 2012 SkiDoo Skandic SWT to replace the last of our ageing Alpines.

We are grateful for Agrium's continued support as we make the transition to our new home in West River's Edge Park.

FSNSC is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Shell.

The club has used the grant to assist in the purchase of a 2012 SkiDoo Skandic SWT to replace one of our ageing Alpines.

With the Alpines at the end of life, and with no spare parts available, it has been a club priority to renew its' fleet of grooming sleds.

We are grateful for Shell's support.

Dow Community Grant 2011

Skandic3FSNSC is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $5000 Dow Community Grant.

In 2011, Dow allocated $50,000 in grant funding for community service projects in the Fort Saskatchewan area as part of their 50th anniversary of operation in the city.

The grant program awards local organizations and non-profit groups that help foster sustainable communities and support community initiatives and projects.

The club will use the grant to assist in the purchase of a 2012 SkiDoo Skandic SWT to replace one of our ageing Alpines.

The Alpines are at the end of life, with no spare parts available. Dow has assisted the club with generous grants in the past, including towards the purchase of an electric track-setter and rental skis and boots.

We are grateful for their continued support.
